This year more than 1,200 students are registered to receive assistance through the school district and community. These students are unlikely to have the necessary supplies or clothing to attend school.
Why it makes a difference: Studies show that inequality in the necessary tools and materials in the learning environment increase the developmental delay in students. Studies have also cited that students regard the inequality of supplies as lack of care or interest in that student degrading their self-esteem and confidence needed to be successful in school and eventually finding a job which could end the poverty cycle. This gap in equality creates a sense of disenfranchisement.
How you can help: Donate a backpack or make a monetary contribution.
