They currently specialize in dog separation anxiety cases and work full-time with clients around the world. Dana is a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer. This specialized certification requires intensive study of the treatment of separation anxiety, as well as the demonstration of extensive training and counseling experience. They are formerly a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and formerly a Certified Shelter Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. Dana graduated with distinction from both the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior, and the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training & Behavior. They also completed Michael Shikashio’s Aggression in Dogs Master Course. Dana has spent nearly two decades working in and partnering with shelters and rescues in various parts of the US. They founded and expanded behavior programs to reduce euthanasia and improve animal welfare; and continue to consult for shelters. Dana has helped rehabilitate dogs from egregious backgrounds such as puppy mills, fighting, and hoarding. They have also worked with equine and exotics rescued from research, abuse, and neglect. They have been mentoring dog trainers for six years and are currently a faculty advisor for students at the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training & Behavior. Dana connects with clients through their company, The Brave Dog Collective. Their current cases involve daily intensive counseling and behavior modification with a focus on long-term results. They consider it the honor of their career to be trusted to help dogs and humans in this way. Dana enjoys keeping a low profile in Charlotte, NC with rescue dog, Hope Rising. Dana is a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) and enjoys both teaching and practicing daily, as well as practicing vipassana meditation every day.
