DESCRIPTION:Leadership Colleyville - Non-Profit Day\n\nPoverty Simulation          \n\nVolunteers from the Community Needed\n\nDid you know that 8 of our schools in GCISD receive Title I funding and that 1 in 4 children are considered low income?  \n\n \n\nThe Colleyville Chamber and Leadership Colleyville Class are working to bring awareness to our members and the community with a Poverty Simulation on Wednesday\, April 3rd from 9 am   12 pm at Crown of Life Lutheran Church and School in Colleyville (6605 Pleasant Run Road).\n\n \n\nThere is no cost to participate and snacks & beverages will be provided during the simulation.\n\nIt is difficult for those of us who have never experienced poverty to truly understand the fears and frustrations that families living in poverty experience with the everyday decisions they have to make.  The Poverty Simulation will provide participants with an opportunity to see how it feels to live a month in poverty so that they can experience many of the same frustrations experienced by low income families here in our local community.  The simulation will have you assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget with the goal of providing for your simulated family and keeping up with all of your weekly financial commitments.\n\n \n\nResource Providers will help conduct the simulation and play the role of resource service providers to the families in need.
