Give Back Packs - Chamber Community Giving Program
This year more than 1,200 students are registered to receive assistance through the school district and community. These students are unlikely to have the necessary supplies or clothing to attend school.
Why it makes a difference: Studies show that inequality in the necessary tools and materials in the learning environment increase the developmental delay in students. Studies have also cited that students regard the inequality of supplies as lack of care or interest in that student degrading their self-esteem and confidence needed to be successful in school and eventually finding a job which could end the poverty cycle. This gap in equality creates a sense of disenfranchisement.
How you can help: Donate a backpack or make a monetary contribution.
- Backpacks will be collected at the Colleyville Chamber office until August 8th and delivered to the students through the Back-to-School Fair on August 10th.
- If you prefer, the Chamber is collecting $35 for a school supply pack. This pack includes all the supplies on the list provided by the School District.
- For a small donation of $50 the students will be provided both the backpack and the school supply pack.
