Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Optometric Assistant to join our team. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting with various administrative and clinical tasks. Duties: - Assist optometrist with patient examinations, including taking patient history and performing preliminary tests - Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is clean and ready for use - Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care - Perform basic vision tests, such as visual acuity and color vision tests - Administer eye drops or other medications as directed by the optometrist - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health record system - Schedule appointments and manage patient flow within the office - Assist with frame selection and dispensing of eyeglasses - Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have Experience: - Previous experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is preferred but not required - Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry or ophthalmology is a plus - Familiarity with optical sales and frame selection is beneficial - Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality - Proficient in using electronic health record systems Skills: - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills - Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment - Basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology related to eye health - Knowledge of aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness and preventing infection transmission in the office We offer competitive compensation based on experience.
