The Decent of Orpheus to the Underworld or
La descente d'Orphée aux enfers
The 2 act opera, written by French composer Charpentier around 1686
Will be Sung in French with English translation provided on screen.
The classic story centers around Orpheus; a musician, poet, and prophet in ancient Greek religion and his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld.
ABO performs fully staged baroque operas; costumed performances with chamber (small) orchestra using period instruments.
